List of fees for nurse-led district clinic, Vanuatu
Note time and age-sensitive differential pricing.
It's fairly straightforward to understand Bislama if you make yourself sound out each word aloud. Reading it, on the other hand, is not recommended for innocent Anglo minds.
The one-bed labour ward
The clinic is nurse-led. A woman in labour who needs medical intervention has a 40-minute ambulance ride to Port Vila in front of her.
The maternity ward contains three beds where women can recover after giving birth
Family planning poster, district health clinic
Snapshot taken in the antenatal room. Unusually, this poster is in English. Most public health posters are in Bislama.
Solar panels to power vaccine fridge
I have seen several needle disposal units in Vanuatu, all folded together from sturdy cardboard.
International aid, nurse-led clinic, Vanuatu
Vanuatu medicine bears the stamp of the world: kanji on medication boxes, a nurse wearing a white coat embroidered "Taranaki District Health," and, here, a unit to measure a child's height donated by Unicef. Much of the aid that came in the wake of Cyclone Pam in March 2015 came from China and Japan.
